PRELIMINARY CONSIDERATIONS
Benefits of vocal study. In a pamphlet iisued in 19KJ}, the American
Academy of Teachers of Singing lists the following twelve reasons for studying singing nonprofessional^:

develops the lungs and purifies the blood* 2- Singing promotes good posture and graceful carriage of the body* 3* Singing lends expressiveness to the countenance and animation to
the mind.
4. Singing increases poise and self<onfidence and develops character through difficulties overcome.
